While there aren't any large scale commercial grocery stores in Eckington, there are several notable small business grocery markets and convenience stores that suffice for every day needs. These include the Abem Family Supermarket, Yang Market, McKinley Market, T & G Grocery, and Sun Market. There are also diverse selections of restaurants ranging from Chinese food, Thai food, pizzerias, sandwich shops, steak houses, and cafes.
Where to Learn?
There are many well-regarded schools located in Eckington: Langley Elementary School (PK3-5th), Harmony DC Public Charter School (K-5th), McKinley Technology High School (6th-12th), Dunbar High School (9th-12th), and C.H.O.I.C.E. Academy at Emery (6th-12th). For higher education, the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School (Sonia Gutierrez Campus) is located near the Rhode Island metro station. This campus offers adults-only training in the following areas: ESL (English as a Second Language), vocabulary, advanced culinary arts, nurse aide, computer support specialist, and Microsoft Office. Additionally, The Art and Drama Therapy Institute, Inc. (ADTI) provides innovative care and treatment of adults (18+) with a range of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
